About Lee Plumbing and Heating
Lee Plumbing and Heating has provided Thief River Falls, MN with the highest quality plumbing and heating services for over a century.
Founded in 1905 by Norwegian immigrant, Edward Lee. He and his family lived above the plumbing shop in Thief River Falls, which was originally located at 213 Main Avenue North. Edward’s sons; Carl and Roy, grew up within the business and later took over operation of the company. After Edward Lee passed away in 1952 Carl and Roy purchased the company.
Lee Plumbing and Heating continued its expansion through the 50’s and 60’s and eventually moved it to its current location at 1430 Main Avenue North.
After completing a degree in accounting and working as a CPA, Carl’s son Larry returned to Thief River Falls and joined the business in 1979. After Roy’s retirement in 1985, Larry purchased the business. Carl’s love for the business and the community forced him to quit his retirement and he continued to work until his death in 1996 at the age of 79. Larry’s wife, Cheryl, also joined the team at Lee Plumbing and Heating utilizing her accounting degree as the company’s first chief financial officer.
The fourth generation of Lee Plumbing and Heating started when Derek joined the company in 2005. After working for a wholesale plumbing company in the Twin Cities, Derek was eager to return to Thief River Falls and carry on the family tradition. Like all the Lee children, Derek
grew up working at the plumbing business during the summer months, while attending high school and college.
For over 100 years, the business has specialized in plumbing and hot water heating, serving northwestern Minnesota and eastern North Dakota. As times have changed, so has the scope of our practice.
